Mar 15, 2021 (newstodate): February 2021 paints a bleak picture of passenger traffic through the Nordic airports in times of coronavirus.
Norway's Oslo Airport came out as the region's largest airport in terms of passenger volumes totaling 218,032 in February 2021, down 89.2 percent, y-o-y. Most of the passengers were traveling on domestic routes - totaling 172,556 passengers but also down 80.7 percent, y-o-y.
Sweden's Stockholm Airport handled a total of 173,553 pax in February '21, down 90 percent, including 109,052 pax flying internationally, down 92 percent, and 64,501 pax on domestic routes, down 82 percent.
Third in pax volumes was Finland's Helsinki Airport with a drop by 92.4 percent to 114,284 pax, including 66,285 pax on international routes, down 94.5 percent, and 47,899 pax on domestic flights, down 83.2 percent.
#4 in pax volumes was Denmark's Copenhagen Airport with 106,139 pax, down 94,7 percent, y-o-y. Only 23,132 pax were domestic travelers while pax on European routes declined 96.1 percent to 64,276, and pax volumes on Intercont routes were down by 93.6 percent to 16,731.
Iceland's Keflavik Airport handled only 11,500 pax in February 2021, down 97.1 percent, y-o-y.
Finally, the Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport handled 4,831 passengers in February - a decline by 77 percent.
