Mar 02, 2021 (newstodate): The Danish charter and ACMI carrier Great Dane Airlines is now near the end of its six-month wet-lease contract with Bamboo Airlines in Vietnam.
Great Dane Airlines performed its first landing at Con Dao on September 27, 2021, having allocated two Embraer E195 aircraft with 45 cockpit and cabin crew members for domestic operations from early August 2020 on three routes into Con Dao, a small airport with 1,800m runway.
-The contract expires by the end of this month, but we still hope to see our Vietnamese customer extending the cooperation which will probably be known within a week or so from now, says Thomas Hugo Moller, Great Dane Airlines managing director.
-Extending the contract would bridge the gap to the start of the coming summer season and support the utilization of our capacity.
-But even so, we are actually happy to see the volume of contracts signed with charter tour operators already sufficient to secure the sustained base-line operations of Great Dane Airlines through the summer 2021 season. Any further contracts would add to the profitability of our operations which is highly satisfying, given today's uncertainties in the industries, says Mr Moller.
Early in February 2021, the carrier announced a contract with tour operators Spies in Denmark and Ving in Sweden to operate a weekly flight from Copenhagen and Gothenburg, respectively, with an Embraer E195 aircraft, during the period from May 27, 2021, till September 30.
Adding to this, Great Dane Airlines next published a fresh order with Danish tour operator Bravo Tours comprising some 24 weekly flights from the Danish airports at Aalborg, Billund and Copenhagen to leisure destinations in Southern Europe during the summer schedule.
Great Dane Airlines started out from June 14, 2020, with scheduled flights on a network from Aalborg Airport to destinations including Dublin, Edinburgh and Nice besides offering capacity for Danish tour operators.
The focus later changed to charter and ACMI services, and in the fleet are now three Embraer 195LR aircraft.
