Mar 19, 2021 (newstodate): Cargo volumes were down by 24.8 percent, y-o-y, at Copenhagen Airport in January-February 2021.
A total of 38,408 tonnes by commercial airlines and integrators was thus handled at the airport during the period.
Volumes on commercial carriers alone were 25,576 tonnes, down a solid 34.5 percent, y-o-y, reflecting the sustained shortfall of airline passenger traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, volumes handled by integrators FedEx and DHL increased by 7.3 percent, to a total of 12,832 tonnes.
In February alone, total volumes were down 19.7 percent; volumes on commercial carriers were down 29.1 percent, while integrators saw volumes up by 10.5 percent, y-o-y.
By comparison, January 2021 alone saw the airport's total volumes down by 29.3 percent; volumes on commercial airlines dropped 39.4 percent, and volumes on integrators were up by 4.3 percent, y-o-y.
While cargo still has a long way to recovery, the trend thus seems to be turning upwards for cargo at Copenhagen Airport, while it should be noted that 2020 was a leap year, with one extra day of operations in February.
