Mar 22, 2021 (newstodate): In January-February 2021, volumes on commercial carriers, excluding integrators, were 25,576 tonnes, down a solid 34.5 percent, y-o-y, reflecting the sustained shortfall of airline passenger traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In February alone, belly cargo was down 35.6 percent, y-o-y, to 6,464 tonnes; all-cargo volumes dropped 91.8 percent to only 24 tones; mail volumes were down by 39.7 percent to 730 tonnes, and trucked cargo was also down by 15 percent to 5,851 tonnes.
Comparing January and February 2021, the total volumes handled were however up by 4.5 percent to 13,069 tonnes.
Belly cargo increased by 7.1 percent; mail volumes fell by 36.2 percent, while trucked cargo increased by 9.8 percent.
The increase in both belly cargo handled at Copenhagen Airport and trucked cargo between Copenhagen and other continental airports indicates that passenger flights are cautiously reopening after a prolonged lockdown period.
