Mar 26, 2021 (newstodate): In February 2021, Finland's Transport and Communications Agency opened a tender for PSO services on five domestic routes to uphold connectivity.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, Finnair has reined in on its domestic air services, currently operating domestic flights only between Helsinki and four airports - Rovaniemi, Oulu, Kuopio, Vaasa and Mariehamn.
The tender has now been closed, and while no official announcement has been made, media carry leaked information about bidders.
Bidders are thus said to include the Swedish airlines Amapola and BRA, the Danish carrier DAT, the Estonian airlines Nyxair and Xfly, as well as the Latvian carrier Raf-Avia.
The announcement of the winners to connect Helsinki with Joensuu, Jyvaskyla, Kokkola-Pietarsaari, Kemi-Tornio and Kajaani airports will be out soon as the period tendered is April 1 - December 31, 2021.
