Feb 09, 2021 (newstodate): At a press conference in Reykjavik on September 6, 2019, the US company USAerospace Associates LLC owned and headed by Ms Ballarin announced its acquisition of the WOW Air brand to bring back WOW Air in the air.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions were to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington already in October 2019, initially with a fleet of two aircraft and planning to grow to six aircraft by summer 2020 - finally landing at some 10-12 aircraft.
Little progress, however, seems to have been achieved so far in bringing plans to reality, and the company is still without a US or any other AOC.
Mrs Ballarin however reappeared last week in an interview on Icelandic state TV channel RUV
Mrs Ballarin once again confirmed her intentions of seeing WOW Air taking to the air in 2021, while it appears that the company has no staff or locality on Iceland.
In June 2020, WOW Air claimed the opening of a cargo warehouse in the USA.
Situated on the US east coast at Martinsburg, West Virginia, the warehouse offers 100,000 sq feet of hangar and warehouse including 25,000 sq feet of administrative offices for global dispatch operations.
No operations have, however, been reported so far...
