Feb 09, 2021 (newstodate): Aviatic MRO is advancing on its plans for construction of a 23,000 m2 aircraft maintenance and repair center at Siauliai International Airport, scheduled to launch operations in 2022.
The company has started the initial ground works on the plot in preparation of the building and engineering works, with the construction of the aircraft maintenance and repair center to commence after the completion of the construction works carried out under a contract between Siauliai Municipality and AB Panevezio Keliai.
The airport has embarked on an upgrading of the infrastructure to be completed in June 2021, supported by the Lithuanian government, including a complete reconstruction of taxiway B as well as construction of a new apron.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport with a 3,500m CAT 1 runway and a second 3,280m runway is today a key air base serving the NATO air forces supporting the monitoring of NATO's Baltic airspace.
