Feb 11, 2021 (newstodate): OSCC welcomes new initiatives to lift seafood directly out of Northern Norway.
-Our approach is that any development adding to the options for Norway's exporters of seafood is a benefit to the entire seafood industry and should be welcomed, says Roy Egil Skredderberget, CEO at OSCC - one of three providers of cargo terminal handling and cargo ramp handling for airlines at Oslo Airport.
-I have a personal background in the seafood industry in northern Norway, and I am deeply aware of the challenges for exporters in the region considering the long trucking times to Oslo Airport. Opening all-cargo flights at Evenes Airport is a positive development for the region, but equally so for the industry at large Our share at Oslo Airport may be smaller - but the "cake" will grow - and the country's seafood industry will prosper in the global marketplace.
-We are confident that Oslo Airport will continue to play a leading role in the seafood air logistics. The potential decline in volumes of seafood shipments trucked from the north will rather be felt at Helsinki Airport that is today a major provider of uplift capacity for the industry, says Mr Skredderberget.
