Feb 03, 2021 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport may not be the region's largest in cargo volumes - but the performance in 2020 was still positive, given the over-all impact from Covid-19.
A total of 14,478 tonnes of cargo was handled in January-December 2020 which was an increase by 3.6 percent over 2019.
The growth in cargo was especially high in the first four months of 2020 generating two-digit growth figures, while growth returned again in December when volumes were up 5.8 percent to 1,420 tonnes.
Turkish Cargo is contributing strongly to the positive cargo growth at Vilnius Airport after launching freighter flights on April 19, 2018, with two weekly Airbus A330-200F rotations.
