Feb 16, 2021 (newstodate): The coming new Lithuanian airline, Heston Airlines, headquartered in Vilnius, is readying to launch operations by mid-April 2021.
-We are deep into the process of obtaining our AOC and Commercial License from the Lithuanian CAA and expects a final audit by mid-March, says Valentinas Jankelaitis, Heston Airlines CCO.
-Heston Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A320 in December 2020, and two aircraft are now in our fleet, with a third waiting in Dublin for delivery when the market so requires.
-Our aim is to operate 50/50 split between ACMI and charter operations - but with the immediate outlook the market for ACMI will be slow in opening, leading us to focus on charter operations from the start. However, in the longer run, relying on only one leg in business will be too vulnerable.
-We are now recruiting cockpit crews, starting out with captains and in the next phase pilots. Already now we have three full cockpit crews ready to fly once all pertinent paperwork and licensing is completed.
-So we are on schedule with our planning, ready to launch business with our first aircraft later this spring, says Mr Jankelaitis.
