Feb 18, 2021 (newstodate): A dormant Uzbek carrier is returning to the skies in 2021 with new aircraft: Qanot Sharq Airlines.
Established in September 1998 as one of the first non-governmental airlines in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the carrier has now signed a long-term lease contract with the US lessor ALC for two used Airbus A320-200 aircraft to be delivered in March 20921 as the first aircraft in the new fleet.
In 2019, Qanot Sharq placed a soft order with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft for three Russian-built Superjet 100 aircraft, but the plan was later cancelled.
