Feb 15, 2021 (newstodate): Plans for start of all-cargo services to lift seafood from Norway's Bodo Airport are progressing as planned.
-According to plans earlier communicated, all equipment and infrastructure should be in place by March 1, 2021 - and we would actually be able to press the button already today, says Elnar Remi Holmen, Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap Mng Dir.
-The focus is now on negotiations with airlines interested in operating cargo flights at Bodo Airport, and the large volumes of Norwegian seafood produced in the northern region is indeed attractive and growing significantly in the years to come.
-The success by Evenes Airport in opening up new all-cargo flights is great news and serves as a strong inspiration for us. We co not consider each other to be competitors; rather Evenes has proved that it is indeed possible to set up new venues in the Norwegian seafood air logistics, and there is plenty of business for us all in service of the producers and exporters.
-Our goal remains to launch all-cargo flights from Bodo Airport in the first half of this year, and we are encouraged by valuable and wholehearted support from Avinor in these endeavors, says Mr Holmen.
Driving the project is Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap, owned by local and regional seafood-related producers, forwarders and exporters.
