Dec 09, 2021 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has back stepped on its plans for taking in two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Behind the fleet expansion was the Ukrainian tour operator Compass-Tour that would use the aircraft for long-haul charter flights to destinations including the Dominican Republic, Mexican Cancun and the Maldives, already announced as new leisure destinations from October 2021.
Now, UIA has decided to scrap the Boeing 777 plans, leasing instead one Boeing 767-300 aircraft from the Portuguese carrier EuroAtlantic Airways to provide capacity for the long-haul leisure charter operations.
The aircraft will be acquired on a wet-lease contract, with crews and maintenance by the Portuguese carrier.
The flight program will commence from December 27, 2021.
