Dec 20, 2021 (newstodate): Among the few international encouragements for Belarus may be the announcement of inking a new air services agreement with Venezuela!
The news was announced by the Venezuelan president Maduro who however shed little light on the content of the agreement.
-Through Venezuela, Belarus will again access to South America, other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, while Venezuela will gain access to the world via Belarus, the president said at a meeting of the Belarus-Venezuela commission, broadcast on TV.
Internationally, sanctions on Belarus are taking a heavy toll on the country's national carrier Belavia.
As one recent step, Belavia has been disconnected from IATA's global airline system BSP concerning ticket sales, and from CASS, IATAs global system for air cargo settlements.
The suspension of Belavia's BSP membership alone entails a loss of an estimated 70 percent of the airline's ticket sales.
Belavia has also been forced to ground about half of its aircraft fleet due to the implementation of the latest round of sanctions from December 2, 2021.
