Dec 06, 2021 (newstodate): Several airlines are now reporting issues with failing paint on Airbus A350 aircraft.
The issue was first raised by Qatar Airways that has since been followed by other airlines including Etihad, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa and Air France.
The list also comprises Finnair that operates a fleet of 16 aircraft of this type.
-We can confirm that we have experienced some issues with A350 painting, and have been working together with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus to solve these issues. On Finnair aircraft, there have been no effect on the aircraft’s airworthiness, but the issues have been cosmetic only, Mari Kanerva, Finnair Communications Manager, told newstodate on Friday.
Another Nordic operator of the Airbus A350 aircraft is SAS, today operating six aircraft of the type, but still not seeing any problems with painting.
-We are not aware of any issues with fuselage tear or paint cracks on our Airbus A350 fleet, says Alexandra Koukji, SAS Head of Media Relations.
-We are, however, still investigating and if any issues are identified, we will immediately report to the lessor or Airbus, she says.
