Dec 17, 2021 (newstodate): The Romanian cargo carrier Rom Cargo Airlines lifted off on its first assignment from Liege to Baku on November 22, 2021, but so far its operational history has come short...
The carrier, established by the Moldovan carrier Aerotranscargo operating also under the brand name of Fly Sky, obtained its AOC on November 5, 2021 - but according to Romanian media the country's CAA has suspended it again from December 14, with no information made public about the underlying reason.
Rom Cargo Airlines registered Romania's first Boeing 747 aircraft - a Boeing 747-400BCF earlier operated by Thai Airways Cargo, and the Moldovan mother company would eventually transfer two Boeing 747-400 freighters to Romania, allowing the company to operate as an EU carrier.
In the latest air safety black list published on November 25, 2021, all airlines certified in Moldova have been removed from the list, following improvements in aviation safety in the country.
All of Moldova's carriers, except for Air Moldova, Fly One and Aerotranscargo, were banned from the EU airspace since 2019, but are now free to return to EU skies and airports, maybe rendering the use of Fly Sky's Romanian subsidiary less important.
