December 10, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair has announced its decision to continue long-haul operations from Stockholm Airport through next year's summer schedule.
Finnair launched services on the route from Stockholm to New York EWR from December 7, 2021, with three weekly rotations, alongside flights to Los Angeles starting from November 3, 2021, also with three weekly rotations, and adding flights from Stockholm to Miami from October 4, 2021, with four weekly rotations, going up to four rotations from November 29, 2021.
In summer 2022 season, Finnair is even adding frequencies on the US-bound routes; from May 1, 2022, Finnair will fly from Stockholm Arlanda to New York daily and to Los Angeles four times a week.
With the opening of long haul flights from Stockholm Airport, Finnair has become the airport's leading long haul flights operator, beating SAS that earlier held the position.
In the Swedish market, North Air Logistics provides Finnair with cargo GSSA services, while handling of Finnair Cargo is provided by Spirit Air Cargo Handling.
With the launch of long-haul services from Stockholm, Finnair opened a new revenue stream to compensate for the sustained ebb in its key market segment - the Asian traffic from Helsinki.
