Dec 03, 2021 (newstodate): Qatar Airways was first to voice concerns over paint flaws on its Airbus A350 fleet - but more airlines are affected.
Among them is Finnair that currently has 16 Airbus A350-900 aircraft in the fleet.
-We can confirm that we have experienced some issues with A350 painting, and have been working together with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus to solve the issues, says Mari Kanerva, Finnair Communications Manager.
-Finnair has seen no effect on the aircraft's airworthiness, but the issues have been cosmetic only. We have addressed these paint issues in connection with regular aircraft maintenance, and their impact on Finnair aircraft has been cosmetic, but, of course, unfortunate.
-We continue to cooperate on this issue with Airbus. During the past 18 months our long-haul aircraft have not been in full use, as we have operated with a reduced capacity due to the pandemic. Thus, we have not experienced availability or operational issues related to this.
-We have reported all our findings to Airbus, who as the type certificate holder is responsible for airworthiness assessment, says Ms Kanerva.
