Nov 17, 2021 (newstodate): The Lithuanian e-trade logistics provider Venipak's plans for adding a new Asian freighter service at Riga Airport before the end of this year have been postponed.
Venipak planned to add a second freighter destination from Riga to Asia, with Shanghai, South Korea and Japan as alternatives, with a decision expected to be announced already in November 2021.
But this has run into the issue of lack of available cargo aircraft capacity in today's heated air cargo market, forcing Venipak to postpone the plans till 2022.
Venipak is today driving a twice-weekly freighter service between Hong Kong and Riga with a Boeing 737-800BCF operated by the Russian carrier Atran Airlines.
The service was inaugurated with the first weekly flight on September 18, 2021, and Venipak added a second rotation from October 27, 2021.
