Nov 18, 2021 (newstodate): Well located on the world map as the closest European Union capital to China offers a role for Estonia's Tallinn Airport to become the region's hub for Asian and American flights, says Hasan Steinberg, Tallinn Airport Air Cargo Development Manager.
-COVID-19 has left its mark on aviation and has affected where and to what extent investments are being made and what additional opportunities are being created for passengers and partners. Estonia is well known as a ‘digital’ and IT country, and Tallinn's city center, as well as its port, are located only 5 kilometers from the airport. This allows the arriving flight crews to get to and from the accommodation in about 10 minutes, securing a maximum of resting times.
-Also, Tallinn Airport operates a 3,480 m runway as one of the longest in the region, also securing fast and flexible support from the technical and maintenance team of Magnetic MRO for all common types of aircraft.
-Tallinn Airport is thus already gaining popularity as a convenient technical stop location between Asia and North America, as proved by one of our biggest recent projects in collaboration with Wamos Air that has set up Tallinn as its technical stop destination.
-Long-term cooperation with Wamos Air confirms that the ability of Tallinn Airport to succeed as a transit station creates several advantages. The airports’ duties should no longer be limited to the operation of buildings and airfields, but should aim at being an excellent host and providing efficient solutions and convenience to all operators and their crews during their short visits at the airports, says Mr Steinberg.
