Nov 26, 2021 (newstodate): Since October 19, 2020, the Spanish airline FlightLine has been operating a Metroliner SA226 aircraft for DANX Finland, offering stable In-Night deliveries to Finland and Sweden before seven in the morning, with pick-up of deliveries by the end of the working day in both countries.
Well-received in the markets, the service is operating with high load factors into Helsinki and with high regularity.
-From May 2021, the Stockholm-Helsinki operation was bolstered with the addition of the third destination: Malmo Airport, and the routing from Helsinki to Malmo, continuing to Stockholm and returning to Helsinki has made good sense, says Pasi Junninen, DANX Finland Mng Dir.
-While volumes into Helsinki are at a maximum leaving little, or no, room for extra sales, volumes from Helsinki remain our challenge, but overall the operation is meeting all expectations.
-Freighter capacity remains the sole restricting factor; taking the next step would require the capacity of a SAAB 340F, but this would significantly increase the cost base and is not now on the table.
-We are extremely satisfied with the cooperation and contract with FlightLine and will stay with the Metroliner at least till a new driver for taking this business to the next level is found, which might be for example adding new business in Northern Sweden bringing in volumes big enough to sustain operations with a larger freighter aircraft, says Mr Junninen.
