Nov 2021 (newstodate): The Lithuanian ACMI provider SmartLynx has announced the addition of a further two Airbus A321F aircraft to the fleet.
The two new cargo aircraft will bring the airline’s A321F fleet to a total of eight active aircraft by the end of 2022.
To be put on Maltese registers and operated by the subsidiary SmartLynx Malta, the aircraft are leased by entities managed by the UK-based investment company Cross Ocean Partners.
The P2F conversions are undertaken by Precision Conversions in the United States, with the aircraft slated for entering commercial service in Q1/22.
SmartLynx is already operating its first A321F delivered by Vallair in June 2021 in support of DHL’s European network, with a second aircraft delivered on October 1, 2021, scheduled to commence operations for DHL shortly.
SmartLynx plans to take in four more units during 2022, with a business target of becoming one of the largest narrow-body cargo freight carriers within the next three years.
SmartLynx Malta obtained its Maltese AOC on April 19, 2019, and landed its Canadian Foreign Air Operator Certificate in October, allowing it to expand into the North American markets with charter and ACMI services.
