Nov 09, 2021 (newstodate): Scarcity of ex-China air cargo capacity drives the Finnish company APC Finland to charter a dedicated cargo flight from Hong Kong to Helsinki on November 23, 2021.
The Airbus A350 passenger aircraft will offer some 40-50 tonnes of belly cargo capacity on the flight fed by trucking from Chinese destinations Xiamen, Shenzhen and Guangzhou to Hong Kong.
Unloaded at Helsinki Airport, the non-Finnish shipments may then be trucked to final destinations in the Nordic and Baltic markets including Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmo in Sweden, Oslo in Norway, Copenhagen and Billund in Denmark, as well as Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius in the three Baltic countries.
-So far this is a one-off operation, but we will monitor the situation as we get closer to the Christmas peak to see if more initiatives will be needed to satisfy the growing demand in the market, says Paivi Lundell, APC Finland Managing Director.
APC Finland is a company within the Nippon Express Group.
