Nov 10, 2021 (newstodate): In October 2021, Latvia's Riga Airport saw volumes on freighter and all-cargo flights up by nine percent, y-o-y.
A total of 2,530 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, including also 910 tonnes of belly cargo on passenger flights, up another 39 percent reflecting the continued return of passenger air traffic at the airport.
The 1,620 tonnes carried on all-cargo and freighter flights were boosted not least by the introduction of the weekly Hong Kong-Riga-Hong Kong freighter service by Venipak since September 18, 2021, further increased with the addition of a second rotation on the route from October 27, 2021.
Venipak is already planning to add a second freighter destination from Riga to Asia, with Shanghai, South Korea and Japan as alternatives, with a decision expected to be announced already later this month.
