Nov 08, 2021 (newstodate): At long last, Loftleidir can now soon see the return of one Boeing 757-200 aircraft arrested by the Cabo Verde government since June 2021 over alleged debts.
The aircraft was kept at Amílcar Cabral Airport, on the island of Sal, after the break down of the cooperation since March 2019 between the Icelandair Group and the Cabo Verde state for resurrection of the country's airline Cabo Verde Airlines, TACV.
The Icelandic group acquired 51 percent of the shares in the airline from the state that however re-nationalized TACV in June this year, claiming non-compliance with the agreement and mismanagement of the airline.
The parties have now reached a settlement paving the road for freeing the Icelandic aircraft to return to Keflavik.
