Nov 18, 2021 (newstodate): The Lithuanian e-trade logistics provider Venipak sees a strong demand for capacity on its Hong Kong-Riga freighter service.
-The incoming flights to Riga from Hong Kong are fully loaded, and with the coming Christmas peak the demand is ever-growing, says Martynas Bulovicius, Venipak Head of Business Development.
-We are therefore reaching out for any one-off flight opportunities to increase capacity for our clients. As one example, we are now planning for an additional flight on November 26 - while monitoring the market for any upcoming opportunity to increase the freighter service.
-However, the imbalance on flights between Hong Kong and Riga remains; we are 100 percent booked from Hong Kong while the challenge remains to boost the utilization of capacity on the eastern flight, says Mr Bulovicius.
Venipak is today driving a twice-weekly freighter service between Hong Kong and Riga with a Boeing 737-800BCF operated by the Russian carrier Atran Airlines.
The service was inaugurated with the first weekly flight on September 18, 2021, and Venipak added a second rotation from October 27, 2021.
Lack of available aircraft has also forced Venipak to postpone plans for adding flights between Riga and a second Asian destination, earlier slated for end of this year and now expected in 2022, instead.
