Nov 11, 2021 (newstodate): Good news for Stockholm Arlanda Airport: Ryanair is flexing muscles with more aircraft, more routes in summer '22.
Ryanair is thus to allocate two more aircraft to Stockholm as its new base, offering flights on 23 routes from the summer 2022 schedule.
Ryanair opened its new base at Stockholm Airport from the start of this winter 2021/22 schedule, allocating two aircraft to operate 89 flights per week serving 21 new routes to 15 countries including Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia and the UK - and also domestic flights to Skellefteaa, as well as to Malmo and Gothenburg.
Yesterday, Ryanair added two more aircraft at Stockholm from summer '22 to provide flights to another 12 routes to Beziers, Brindisi, Chania, Corfu, Palma de Mallorca, Poznan, Rome Fiumicino, Wroclaw and Zadar, as well as domestic flights to Luleaa and Visby.
Starting from the summer '22 schedule, Eurowings will also be operating low-cost flights from Stockholm, basing five Airbus A320 aircraft to provide flights on 20 routes to destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga, Faro, Nice, as well as Berlin, Barcelona, Rome, Copenhagen, Birmingham, Gdansk, and Pristina, with further new destinations to be announced.
Both low-cost newcomers will provide hefty competition to Norwegian as well as SAS at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
On the long haul side, Finnair is also now offering a long-haul flights program to the USA, Thailand and other leisure destinations, also competing with SAS.
