Nov 19, 2021 (newstodate): When Norwegian collapsed and entered its long journey towards reconstruction in 2020/21, the airline operated a fleet of 37 Boeing 787 including eight Boeing 787-8 and 29 Boeing 787-9. Half of these still miss a new operator..
So far, five Boeing 787-8 and 13 Boeing 787-9 are still on ground with lessors, awaiting new assignment.
Of the former Boeing 787 fleet, the bulk will be taken over by Norwegian's long haul successor, Norse Atlantic Airlines that has signed for 12 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the fourth of which has just now been delivered in the livery of Norse.
Four Boeing 787-9 will be transferred by the lessor on a new contract with LATAM, and two Boeing 787-9 aircraft will go to the Italian airline Neos Air.
