Nov 30, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair is struggling to keep its flights to Hong Kong as scheduled despite the recent Covid-19 21-days quarantining in Hong Kong of one of its flight deck crews.
The carrier has thus obtained exemption from the Hong Kong authorities to continue its four weekly passenger flights and two weekly all-cargo operation from Helsinki with an extra crew on board to avoid pilots from entering Hong Kong territory at all.
The crew flying the aircraft into Hong Kong will now rest on board the aircraft on the return flight that will be performed with the extra crew taking over.
The Helsinki-Hong Kong flights will thus require a total of six pilots.
