Nov 22, 2021 (newstodate): China and Finland have successfully completed a new round of negotiations over traffic rights.
Following this, airlines on both sides are now free to raise the volume of rotations between Helsinki and Shanghai from today's seven to 14 weekly operations.
The countries also agreed to abandon all route and waypoint restrictions, translating into more freedom for Finnish airlines, read Finnair, to choose destinations in China.
The new opportunities however await the gradual and eventually full lifting of air travel restrictions still in force due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finnair launched flights to Shanghai in September 2003 and is today back with seven weekly rotations on the route since October 2021.
