Nov 18, 2021 (newstodate): Steep growth in the demand for air cargo capacity makes airlines scrambling for aircraft to be converted from pax to cargo.
For the first time ever, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer is now also including cargo in its forecast, seeing a demand for some 700 short- and medium range cargo aircraft.
Embraer is now to decide within the coming six months whether to enter the P2F market for its Embraer 190 and E195 aircraft that would enable the converted aircraft to lift some 14 tonnes of cargo.
After a decision to enter the P2F market, Embraer sees a 24 months period of certification and development before cargo conversion could actually start, be it at own premises or outsourced to partners.
