Nov 01, 2021 (newstodate): Consolidation is gaining momentum in the aircraft lease business: AerCap Holdings has announced the completion of its acquisition of GECAS from General Electric.
With this acquisition, AerCap confirms its position as the worldwide industry leader across all areas of aviation leasing, serving some 300 customers as the largest customer of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
AerCap now has a portfolio of over 2,000 aircraft, over 900 engines and over 300 helicopters, as well as an order book of approximately 450 aircraft.
The aircraft fleet represents approximately 90 percent of the assets of the combined company, and new technology aircraft are expected to make up 75 percent of the aircraft fleet by 2024.
Already in 2014, AerCap became the world's largest aircraft leasing company after acquiring IFLC, International Lease Finance Corporation.
