Nov 04, 2021 (/newstodate): It still remains unknown what is on the agenda when Ryanair's CEO, Eddie Wilson reportedly pays a visit to Billund today, November 4.
If new routes are on the table, one might comprise flights by Ryanair between Billund and St Petersburg, which would put the Russian destination on the monitor at the airport for the first time.
While still unconfirmed, sources claim that the route will be opened from January 13, 2022, with two weekly rotations.
So far, Ryanair is basing two Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Billund Airport to provide flights on a network comprising eight routes to Brussels, Gothenburg, Lisbon, Memmingen, Sibiu, Seville, Tallinn and Wroclaw - plus maybe the route to St Petersburg.
St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport is the first Russian airport granting 7th Freedom Rights, allowing foreign carriers to fly passengers or cargo between two foreign countries without any continuing service to its own country, as well as visa-free access to the region, enforced from the start of 2020.
