Nov 23, 2021 (newstodate): The Norwegian company MSG Aviation expects to see the start of an automated aircraft washing and de-icing facility at Oslo Airport before the end of next year.
First customer to sign up was the LCC Flyr, and now both Wideroe Ground Handling and the airline Norwegian have joined the tentative customer portfolio, with Wideroe Ground Handling taking on the role as operator of the facility at a dedicated area leased from Avinor for a three-years period.
Automated de-icing performed in a dedicated gate will contribute to faster operations, less queuing, reduced fuel consumption, increased collection rate of de-icing fluid, and the possibility of reusing the de-icing fluid.
MSG Aviation is also to offer automated aircraft and engine wash, and development is being conducted for introducing technical inspection of the aircraft where it is scanned while being washed.
