Nov 02, 2021 (newstodate): The Danish A.P. Moller-Maersk Group has announced the acquisition of the Hamburg-based German global freight forwarding company Senator International.
   Pending regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2022, the company says.
   Senator International brings in an operational airfreight platform of own controlled capacity and operations across Europe, Asia, South Africa, and America, that will support the Moller-Maersk Group's aim to increase its presence in the global air cargo industry.
   With the expected sustained growth in global demand for air cargo capacity, the fleet of the Moller-Maersk Group's cargo carrier Star Air will be bolstered with the addition of three more Boeing 767-300 aircraft on a lease contract with AFLC with delivery in 2022, as well as the direct acquisition from Boeing of two new Boeing 777F aircraft, with deliveries in 2024.
