Oct 07, 2021 (newstodate): Some Danish tour operators complain of lack of aircraft capacity in the market to meet the demand for leisure travels in the market.
Does this indicate that capacity has already become a restraining factor for tour operators in the wake of the Covid-19 disruption?
-The message from tour operators may be overdoing the issue in the current situation, says Birthe Madsen, Jettime VP Management Support.
-The issue with aircraft capacity concerns the coming one-week school autumn holiday period. Tour operators might indeed have been able to sell more seats during this one week - but just one week's peak does not translate into profitable flight operations in the longer term.
-It so happens that week 42 marks also the start of the winter 2021 schedule, so it's probably the concurrence of the closing late-summer season with the start of the winter 2021 season's first flights to sunny leisure destinations that generates a temporary mid-October peak, says Ms Madsen.
Jettime's fleet comprises four Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 737-700, while two aircraft will be in for C-checks from August/September.
