Oct 11, 2021 (newstodate): With a total of 18,345 tonnes handled in January-September 2021, Latvia's Riga Airport is seeing a sound growth in volumes.
Total volumes are thus up by 14.6 percent so far this year, while volumes in the same period in 2020 were actually down by 19.4 percent, compared to Jan-Sep 2019 when volumes were 19,848 tonnes. However, of the total cargo handled at the airport, 13,104 tonnes were carried on freighter and all-cargo flights, an increase by 52 percent, y-o-y.
Riga Airport is also to benefit from the start of Venipak's freighter services operated by the Russian carrier Atran Airlines, capable of lifting some 20 tonnes of cargo on direct flights between Hong Kong and Riga from September 18, 2021, with one rotation, going up to two rotations from October 27, 2021.
