Oct 05, 2021 (newstodate): Without further ado, Spirit Air Cargo Handling has now left the cargo handling market at Sweden's Gothenburg Airport.
Announced to airline customers earlier in summer 2021, all cargo handling activities at the airport have been laid down with effect from October 1, 2021.
After this, cargo handling is now provided only by its former competitor, GLA Aircargo with Bo Lundberg as Managing Director.
In the first seven months of this year, Gothenburg Airport's volumes dropped by 4.2 percent, y-o-y, to 10,209 tonnes due to a fall in exports by 11.3 percent to 4,410 tonnes, while imports fared better with an increase by 1.9 percent to 5,799 tonnes.
Integrators are the key drivers in cargo at Gothenburg Airport that is today without commercial wide-body operators while passenger traffic is only slowly picking up.
Spirit Air Cargo Handling's main business at Gothenburg Airport has thus been handling of the trucked cargo.
