Oct 12, 2021 (newstodate): A new airline in Lithuania, Global Airways Lithuania, is still working on meeting the requirements by the county's aviation authorities for an AOC.
Speaking to newstodate in October 2020, Global Airways confirmed its intention to launch flights from the coming summer 2021 season, pending the completion of the AOC and Operational License processes.
-Establishing our Lithuanian subsidiary will grant us with opportunities to expand into new European markets with a cost base lower than most of our competitors; we own all of our aircraft and have no lease obligations.
-From the start, we will move one Airbus A320 aircraft from our South African AOC to our coming Lithuanian AOC, and we are certainly to expand by adding new own aircraft directly as markets develop after the Covid-19 pandemic, Bruno Kaspar, Global Airways Lithuania said.
In late March 2021, Lithuania's CAA confirmed that the application by Global Airways Lithuania was still under consideration - but since then no news have evaporated...
On newstodate's inquiry this week, the Lithuanian CAA however confirms that the certification process is indeed still going on..
