Oct 25, 2021 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has extended its contract with Swissport for operating the COOL Terminal at Helsinki Airport till the end of 2026.
The contract includes the unloading and loading, acceptance and delivery of export and import cargo at Finnair’s 31,000 m2 COOL terminal, as well as cargo transportation on the apron of Helsinki Airport.
From June 1, 2019, Swissport took over as terminal operator at Finnair Cargo's COOL Nordic Cargo Hub at Helsinki Airport under a contract expiring in 2024 - and thus now extended by another two years.
On December 1, 2011, Swissport set up Helsinki Vantaa Airport as a new base, with Finnair as its launch customer for services including passenger services, ramp handling, executive aviation and lounge hospitality.
Later, Swissport added cargo handling and terminal services to its portfolio at Helsinki.
Since April 19, 2018, Swissport Cargo Services has been operating at two premises at Finland's Helsinki Airport, with the second location in part of the former Finnair Cargo terminal, next to the ASR Cargo Center.
The first Swissport Cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport has been dedicated to exports, while the second facility provides handling of import shipments.
The customer portfolio of Swissport Finland Cargo includes Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Turkish Cargo, Qatar Airways, AF/KLM, SAS Cargo, Cargolux, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Emirates.
