Oct 12, 2021 (newstodate): Happy faces yesterday on LinkedIn showing representatives from the Danish carrier Great Dane Airlines at Routes in Milan.
But - yet unknown to them, the carrier had just ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy, running low on contracts for the coming winter season and thus facing an uncovered and rising cost pile on the shoulders of its prime investor, Eigil B. Christensen, who established an aircraft lease company to place three ex-Stobart Air Embraer 195LR with the airline managed by Thomas Hugo Moller, Great Dane Airlines CEO.
Based at Aalborg Airport, Great Dane Airlines performed its first commercial flight on June 14, 2019, contracted by Danish tour operator Bravo Tours for flights during the summer season to leisure destinations, and from July 2020 landing a six-month contract with the Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways comprising two aircraft for domestic Vietnamese operations till the start of this summer season.
