Jan 27, 2021 (newstodate): From this summer, the Hungarian LCC Wizz Air is deepening its footprint in the Norwegian market with new international routes.
Starting from May 14, 2021, the carrier will be offering flights on five new seasonal routes from Oslo Airport to Alicante, Gran Canaria, Larnaca, Chania and Split, all to be served 2-3 times weekly.
The new routes come on top of Wizz Air's opening of flights on 12 domestic routes in Norway that have however come off to a troubled start due to low market demands during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, leading to repeated cancellations and schedule changes.
In most cases, Wizz Air competes head-on with the country's low-cost carrier Norwegian.
Wizz Air first entered the Norwegian market - the carrier's 18th - from September 19, 2006, with the launch of flights on the route between Katowice, Poland, and Oslo.
