Jan 28, 2021 (newstodate): Signaling a new gradual fleet refurbishment, West Atlantic has taken delivery of its first ATR-72F from LUSAT Leasing, Spain.
The aircraft will be placed on the AOC of West Atlantic's UK subsidiary to operate on behalf of a major Integrated Express provider within the UK, while a second aircraft is planned to join during early Q2, 2021.
-With this new addition to our fleet in the UK, West Atlantic also signals the start of a fresh approach to the UK market after Brexit; an attractive market with strong potentials where we are already long well-established and intent on continuing our ongoing development even after having moved part of our activities back to Scandinavia, says Lars Jordahn, West Atlantic CEO.
The ATR-72 aircraft will provide additional capacity to West Atlantic’s existing fleet as the group embarks upon a
fleet renewal program to replace its long-serving BAe ATP-F fleet.
Equipped with a large cargo door, the ATR-72F carries up to 8.2 tonnes of cargo with 75m3 of bulk capacity, or 7.5 tonnes of containerized cargo in 5 ABU type ULDs.
