Jan 11, 2021 (newstodate): Ukraine is building a position as a new hub for Chinese shipments to markets in Eastern Europe.
Starting shortly before Christmas, the Meest China logistics company launched a weekly flight from Hong Kong to Kiev Boryspil Airport in Ukraine, chartering an Airbus A330 passenger aircraft for the purpose.
-We will operate such flights directly from Hong Kong to Boryspil weekly. This will allow us to make deliveries from China to Ukraine in 12 hours and not depend on airlines, which are not delighting anyone with their stability this year, the logistics operator said in an interview on the CFTS portal.
Since January 17, 2020, the Ukrainian carrier Eleron has been operating cargo flights between Kiev and Riga, later adding also flights between Lviv and Riga with AN-26 rotations lifting some 5.5 tonnes.
The routes carry incoming ex-China e-trade shipments by Atran from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport into Riga for transfer to Ukraine, and lift mail shipments from Ukraine back to Riga for onward transportation on other carriers.
With effect from December 1, 2020, Alexander Ignatyuk, till then serving as Eleron Marketing Manager, moved to a new position as CEO at the Ukrainian company Post-International, offering comprehensive logistics solutions for delivery of international dispatches to Ukraine for e-commerce projects, international trade entrepreneurs and other business partners that need postal deliveries to and from Ukraine.
