Jan 28, 2021 (newstodate): The Swedish cargo charter and ACMI carrier West Atlantic, since April 2019 part of the Spanish holding company LUSAT, has not bid a definite good-bye to the wide-body freighter market.
At its peak operating four Boeing 767-200F aircraft, West Atlantic received the first freighter on January 5, 2015, with the second freighter joining in October 2015, a third Boeing 767-200F by Q2, 2016, and the fourth on November 30, 2018.
Two of the Boeing 767-200F aircraft were however redelivered to the ATSG lessor already in September 2019 and March 2020, respectively - and the remaining two left the fleet on January 1, 2021.
-The withdrawal from the wide-body freighter marked is temporary only, says Lars Jordahn, West Atlantic CEO.
-After a pause, we will return with Boeing 767 freighters in 2022, and maybe with another type instead of the Boeing 767-200.
