Jan 28, 2021 (newstodate): Despite the general downturn in the global aviation industry, cargo volumes carried on Russian airlines saw a modest growth in 2020.
A total of 1,164,681 tonnes of cargo was lifted, which was 4.1 percent up, y-o-y.
Heading the list comprising 35 airlines was AirBridgeCargo with 526,850 tonnes but down 2.6 percent compared to 2019.
Ranking #2 was Aeroflot with 158,946 tonnes but down 27 percent as all cargo is carried on passenger aircraft.
Member of the Volga-Dnepr Group, Atran Airlines performed strongly in 2020, lifting 36,122 tonnes after growing no less than 90.4 percent.
Volga-Dnepr Airlines saw volumes up by 31.2 percent to 23,682 tonnes, but top-runner was Nordwind Airlines with a growth in volumes by 129 percent to 10,412 tonnes in 2020.
