Jan 05, 2021 (newstodate): The all-cargo services lifting seafood exports from Evenes in Northern Norway have met a strong support in the market.
The service lifting up to 50 tonnes of seafood is operated by Qatar Airways Cargo with a Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft flying in from Luxembourg to Evenes and proceeding to Doha for onward flights by Qatar Airways to Asian destinations including South Korea, Bangkok and Singapore.
-Since our opening flight on December 14, 2020, we have been online all through the Christmas and New Year seasons with services scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, says Stig Winther, Perishable Center Nord CEO.
-At this time, we are scheduling the Tuesday and Thursday flights expecting to add the third weekly flight on Mondays as the market picks up again, says Mr Winther.
Behind the all-cargo service is Perishable Center Nord, established in 2020, with main shareholders including Nordlaks Opdrett, Ellingsen Seafood, Salfra and Astafjord Export demonstrating a firm backing in the industry.
