Jan 04, 2021 (newstodate): A subsidiary of the Lithuanian carrier Avion Express, member of the Avia Solutions Group,  Avion Express Malta rounded a significant milestone in its development, achieving IOSA certification by year-end 2020.
   A prerequisite for IATA membership, IATA's Operational Safety Audit Program IOSA aims at preventing air accidents through certified bi-annual quality audits, and allows carriers to conclude code-sharing and interline-agreements with other airlines, as well as facilitating beneficial leasing conditions from aircraft lessors.
   Avion Express Malta was established with a Maltese AOC in May 2019, starting out with one Airbus A320 aircraft.
   Avion Express Malta applied for Foreign Air Carrier Permits and Exemption Authority by the US regulator DOT on July 3, 2019, and was granted rights on August 22, 2019, opening up for new business potentials as a provider of ACMI narrow-body services in the US market.
