Jan 05, 2021 (newstodate): The Icelandair Group has taken another step in the financing of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet.
By the end of December 2020, the Group secured a 12-years sale-lease back agreement with SKY Leasing for two aircraft to be delivered in Q2, 2021.
Earlier, the Group closed a similar deal with BOC Aviation for one Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as well as financing of two Boeing 737 MAX 9 that will not, however, be delivered as Icelandair succeeded in renegotiating its original order portfolio with Boeing.
Still pending is the financing solution for three Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft slated for delivery in Q4, 2021, and Q1, 2022, respectively.
The carrier placed its order for eight Boeing 737 MAX 8 and four MAX 9 aircraft in February 2013, also signing up for future options comprising a further 12 aircraft.
Currently grounded are five Boeing 737 MAX 8 and one Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft
