Jan 27, 2021 (newstodate): The in-night logistics provider DANX Finland has bolstered its freighter service between Helsinki and Stockholm with the addition of a third destination: Malmo Airport.
-The suspension of certain flights by SAS between Copenhagen and Stockholm gave us no alternative than to seek new ways to serve customers in southern Sweden that add volumes to the Stockholm-Helsinki operation, says Pasi Junninen, DANX Finland Mng Dir.
-Benefiting from our close cooperation with the Spanish carrier Flightline, we agreed to route the freighter from Helsinki to Malmo to pick up shipments continuing to Stockholm and Helsinki since last week.
-The schedule has been adjusted to secure the existing deadlines at Stockholm and Helsinki, and the investment in the new set-up is readily justified by the high volumes securing fully-booked flights.
-Actually, the next step may still be to considering a larger aircraft type for the operation. If we land just one or two major new customers the existing capacity will be insufficient calling for moving from the Metroliner to an aircraft such as a SAAB340, says Mr Junninen.
Since the first flight on October 19, 2020, the Spanish airline FlightLine has been operating a Metroliner SA226 aircraft for DANX Finland, offering some 20 m3 of cargo space on workdays to secure stable In-Night deliveries to Finland and Sweden before seven in the morning, with pick-up of deliveries by the end of the working day in both countries.
